A Peek at My Week

Hello loves!

I am back after a bit of a hiatus to link up with Mrs. Laffin's Linky Party. ( I actually meant to publish this on Saturday but then life got in the way. oops!)

Reading: This week our Treasures reading story of the week is The Strongest One. It is a fun reader's theatre about an ant who is trying to find out which animal is the strongest one only to realize that he is!  It is such a cute story and the kids will get a chance to act it out which this set of kids will love!!

Math: We are working on subtracting with regrouping, particularly across zeros. I pray for patience this week during math!!

Writing: We are actually brainstorming for our first narrative piece this week. We have spent the first eight weeks of school doing narrative projects such as the "If My Life Was An Island" project and "I am" project. My kiddos LOVED these units and their finished products turned out beautifully.

Here are some I AM finished products:

Here is our work board with all of the finished projects. Only one empty spot for my poor little girl who has been so sick that she has been absent for 6 days!

I created an "I Am" unit for you to use with your kiddos. Just hop over to my TpT store to enjoy!
Here is our finished bulletin board that is displaying some of our "If My Life Were an Island" projects

Close ups of some of the finished ones

I will post  the "If My Life Was An Island" project in my TpT store, hopefully this week. (fingers crossed)

Science: We will be discussing the Piedmont habitat of Georgia and students will be working in their groups to finish this section of their large Georgia poster. (pics coming this week as well)

Social Studies: We will continue discussing Paul Revere's importance in the American Revolution and the events that happened after the Revolutionary War (i.e. creation of the Constitution). Also, on Thursday, an actor playing the role of Paul Revere will be coming to the school for the kids to meet and ask questions. I am actually excited to see how the kids react to this.

That's all for my week! I will post more pictures ASAP! Join the linky party to share about your upcoming week!

Thanks!

the infamous silent "e"

Happy Monday!

I am a little ashamed to say this, but I am already ready to get back to work. This is the first summer that I have not had a summer camp or childcare job in almost 4 years. I thought I would love the break. Wrong! I have only been out for three weeks and don't think I can go much more. Needless to say, blog stalking, Pinterest, and creating TpT products have become my favorite hobbies.

Here is a new product that I have created and its a FREEBIE! It is a short 2 page activity that helps students understand how short vowel CVC words change meaning and pronunciation when the silent "e" is added to the end.

Grab your freebie here.

Enjoy and please leave a comment and/or rating on my TpT store.

Do you have First Day Jitters?

It's here! My new product... a First Day Jitters Resource Pack.

I absolutely love this book, as do most teachers, but I have had the hardest time finding supplemental resources for 3rd and 4th grade level students. So I decided... why not make them?

So here you go! This resource contains comprehension questions that align with the Common Core Standards, writing prompts, and two math activities to help with those First Day Jitters.

You can grab this pack at my TpT store or at TN store. Enjoy!

My First TPT Product!

I have started the TPT journey in hopes to share some of my creations with other hardworking teachers. I have purchased MANY products from this site, so I decided that it was time for me to take a shot at selling items.

Well here it is... A Statements and Questions Task Card Activity with Student Response Sheet and its a FREEBIE for ONE WEEK (until 6/10/13)!

I am so proud of this product since it is my very first one. Head to my TPT store and grab this freebie here before 6/10/13! Even better news, it is part of a larger resource pack that I have created to go along with my district's reading series. We use McGraw Hill Treasures Series, and because of budget constraints it does not look like we will be getting any newer reading books that are better aligned with the Common Core Standards. Therefore, I have started to create weekly resource packs for each reading story in the 3rd grade Treasures Series. Also, even if you don't use the reading series, you can use the resource packs because each activity and printable is aligned to the story and not the series. It has taken a lot of work but I am so excited about the results and learning new technology. Here is a sneak peek of the first week's resource pack for First Day Jitters. What do you think?

Hope you download and stay tuned for the new products!
